Create Yarmouth is an exciting partnership with Orchestras Live and arts organisations in East Anglia that builds on a rolling programme of work they have led in the Great Yarmouth area with orchestras including with the BBC Concert Orchestra. The BBC Concert Orchestra will announce an exciting three year residency in Great Yarmouth from January 2022. Create Yarmouth aims to raise aspiration, provide learning pathways and improve people’s’ wellbeing through collaboration with world class musicians, digital artists, producers and arts managers.
The workshops will offer schools a unique chance to meet a musician and will consist of a live demonstration of musical instruments and interactive activities. They aim to open up the world of classical music to primary classes. They also give pupils the chance to learn about what it like to be a musician through a Q&A session at the end of the session. Workshops will last one hour and take place over Zoom in the first instance then in person later in the year.
This project will culminate in a free concert for all year 5 students who have participated in the workshops by members of the BBC Concert Orchestra at St George’s Theatre. The concert will include pieces explored in the workshops performed live
