This is an opportunity for Infant, Primary and Complex Needs settings across Norfolk to register their interest.
What are Playground Proms?

- Suitable for primary schools – KS1 and KS2.
- Tailored Proms for Complex Needs Settings.
- Dalcroze sessions in advance of main performances with a specialist practitioner.
- The whole school can attend as it is performed in the school playground (or hall if the weather is poor).
- Schools learn an anthem, specially written for Playground Proms, and are invited to add their own lyrics and perform it during the workshop with the musicians. All the resources are provided.
- Resource packs for teachers and students are provided.
- CPD session for school teachers to take place on Tuesday 13th February 2024, 3.45pm-5.30pm.

The award-winning Brook Street Band will be delivering a workshop in schools in Old Buckenham as an introduction to its educational programme, based around the music of Handel.
The musicians will present a live concert experience, introducing 18th century instruments including the harpsichord, recorder family (ranging from the tiny garklein to the enormous bass recorder) and the violin and cello. Pupils will immerse themselves in Handel’s world, with sight, smell and sound, exploring the many parallels between his life and ours, engaging a deeper, lasting understanding and appreciation of the period and his music.
Brook Street Band is named after the London street where composer George Frideric Handel lived from 1723-59. The Band was formed in 1996 by baroque cellist Tatty Theo and rapidly established itself among the UK’s leading Handel specialists, winning grants, awards and broadcasting opportunities from various organisations including BBC Radio 3 and the Handel Institute. The band has established its own critically acclaimed biennial music festival, love: Handel, in Norwich, which is completely dedicated to Handel’s music, and fuses several of the Band’s passions: working with young people in schools, and extending chamber music and concert links within this community.
