Thetford Music Project – Residential Music Course

Young musicians aged 9 – 17 from all over Norfolk are invited to attend a 3 day music course at Wymondham College, giving them an opportunity to play various types of music of an easy to intermediate level and make new friends with children with a similar interest.

There will also be swimming on the timetable and other activities, as well as playing lots of music! Staff members will be from Thetford Music Project alongside parent volunteers and the Musical Director will be Eddie Seales.

This residential is open to wind, brass and percussion players, of beginners to Grade 5 standard. *NEW for 2019* – There will also be a guitar ensemble for all abilities.

There is a choice of attending as a residential member or as a daily member.
Residential: You arrive on Thursday 25 July and go home on Saturday 27 July.
Daily: You arrive each morning and go home in the evenings (times TBA). Sleep in your own bed!

Start Time: 10.00am (Thursday 25)
Finish Time: Course finishes at 3.30pm (Saturday 27th)
Parents, Friends and Relatives are invited to attend an informal concert at 3pm on Saturday 27 July.

Friday Night is SNYSB Night

On 24 May 2019, come and enjoy a wonderful evening listening to the South Norfolk Symphonic Wind Band and help them raise funds for their exciting tour this summer in Malaysia, where they will be hosting music workshops with school children in Seremban, Kuala Lumpur and Kuching whilst playing concerts to raise money for local charities.

Brass Band Day

Brass & Percussion Players are invited to a Brass Band day in Wymondham on Sunday 30 June 2019.

This is an opportunity for the more experienced and able brass and percussion players of a grade 3+ standard to form a brass band for a day. Open to adults and youngsters to enjoy the experience of playing together and making music from a large selection of music on loan from Broadland Brass Band. French horn players are welcome to come and play E-flat horn parts.

Orchestral Playday

An opportunity for woodwind, brass, string or percussion players from all over the county of an approximate standard of Grade 1 – 4 to play various styles of music in an orchestral setting.

If you play an orchestral instrument (including saxophone) to an approximate standard of between Grade 1 – Grade 4, you are invited to take part in this exciting event, run by Ann Smith Music Service. This event will give you an opportunity to play various types of music, of an easy to intermediate level and meet other musicians with a similar interest and level of ability.

This day is open to both adults and youngsters to enjoy the experience of playing music together in a friendly environment.

Wind Band Day

Woodwind, Brass & Percussion Players are invited to a Wind Band day in Wymondham on Sunday 24 March 2019.

This is an opportunity for the more experienced and able musicians who play woodwind, brass and percussion instruments of a grade 4+ standard to meet together to form a wind band for a day. There is no age limit – this day is open to both adults and children to enjoy the experience of playing along together and making music.

Repertoire to include Concert Band Standards, Show tunes and Pop medleys.

Charanga Training – Beginner

This CPD event is available free of charge to all schools signed up to any Hub Subscription Package or £75 otherwise.

This Introduction session will focus mainly on getting the most from the scheme as well as a brief overview of the vast library of supporting resources.
