This high level ensemble is open to wind, brass, percussion and keyboard players equivalent to Grade 6-8+.
The ensemble supports and nurtures jazz technique including improvisation.

Aimed at pupils in years 9-13 .

The Jazz Orchestra have performed at many prestigious events in the last couple of years including the Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham and the Music for Youth Proms at the Albert Hall.

New players welcome throughout the year via audition. Trombones & trumpets especially welcome to become a big band.

This ensemble is for advanced woodwind, brass and percussion players.

The Symphonic Wind Band was started over 35 years ago. Throughout that time a vast number of pupils from Norfolk schools have had the opportunity to develop their musical ability and collective music making with the ensemble.

Norfolk Students’ Concert Band

Playing level

This is an intermediate wind band that develops ensemble playing further in a stepping stone training ground for the Symphonic Wind Band. The Schools’ Wind Band perform to a high level, playing traditional and contemporary repertoire. It is where students gain more confidence in following a conductor, raise their awareness of their part in the ensemble and play more complicated music.

Guildhall Young Artists Norwich (GYA Norwich)

Saturdays, 9.00 – 1.30pm

Playing level

Musicians aged 4 -18 of any standard.

GYA Norwich is also home to Norfolk County Youth Orchestra,  GYA Norwich Orchestra and the Music Starts Here! programme.

Guildhall Young Artists Norwich is part of Guildhall Young Artists, Guildhall School’s network of centres across the country, providing inspiring performing arts training for children and young people.

GYA Norwich has a substantial bursary scheme and ALL aspiring young musicians between age 4 and 18 are welcome to apply for a free taster session at any time.
