Maintaining musical progress is difficult via remote learning, especially for class music, but it is not impossible. The Inspiration Trust, and its family of 14 schools, is using the MusicFirst platform to enable the continuation of its music curriculum during this current lockdown. MusicFirst is a platform specifically designed for music education and has many benefits over using platforms which are designed as generic online classrooms, not least the integration of sophisticated music apps for the quizzing of music theory, aural training, general music knowledge, composition and much more. It is a powerful tool for remote lesson delivery, setting of homework, and providing additional educational opportunities for school ensembles. It is appropriate for use with a very wide age range – the trust uses it for all pupils from KS2 to KS5.
During this session, John Stephens (Director of Music for the Inspiration Trust), will demonstrate the system, and give examples of how it is used within Inspiration Trust schools. He’ll share the pros and cons from a teacher’s perspective and be available to answer questions after the demonstration.
This session is suitable for music teachers, music subject leads, those with responsible for musical enrichment, and members of senior leadership teams with management responsibility for music and the performing arts. It is recommended that you attend the session via a device with a large screen, where possible.
