Started by Dave Amis in the 1980s, the Norfolk Students’ Jazz Orchestra‘s membership is drawn from schools all across Norfolk and welcomes students of grade 6 standard or above who have a passion for jazz and improvisation. Under the stewardship of Music Service tutors, the band has won numerous national competitions in London and Birmingham, and this year achieved ‘outstanding’ in the Norfolk County Music Festival.
Many notable local players have passed through the band’s ranks including Brad and Elliot Mason, Kit Downes, Tom Dunnett and George Crowley (to name but a few) and ex-members Harry Evans and Nick Fitch currently hold chairs in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
NSJO will be playing a 60min set from 8.00pm, followed by a set from The Thomas Howe Quartet.
Doors open at 7.30pm / music from 8.00-10.30pm.
