We are thrilled to announce the appointment of our Lead Schools for Norfolk & Suffolk Music Hub – a key part of our ambitious plans to strengthen and elevate music education across the region.
Following a rigorous recruitment and selection process, led by our Executive Board, a fantastic group of schools from across all 12 localities in Norfolk and Suffolk have been appointed to lead this important initiative until August 2026.
What are Lead Schools for Music?
As outlined in the National Plan for Music Education, Lead Schools for Music are schools that go above and beyond in their music education offer. They exemplify best practice and play a key leadership role in helping other schools improve and innovate in music education. They are not just participants in the Music Hub – they are collaborators, co-creators and champions of musical opportunity.
Lead Schools will:
- Deliver and model high-quality curriculum and co-curricular music
- Support teacher development through mentoring, training and networks
- Create inclusive pathways for musical progression
- Shape and deliver localised music education activity
- Act as advocates for the power of music in education
Each school appointed has demonstrated a strong track record in music, a commitment to inclusivity and a willingness to support and inspire others whether that be locally or on a more regional basis.

Our appointed Lead Schools represent a wide range of settings – including primary, secondary and complex needs settings – and have been chosen across our locality matrix to ensure that our approach is responsive to local needs.

Whether they are primary, secondary, specialist or alternative provision, each Lead School will help us build stronger peer-to-peer learning networks, deliver high-quality professional development for teachers and co-create exciting musical opportunities that respond to the needs of their local communities.
A Collaborative Future for Music Education

By embedding schools at the heart of our Music Hub offer, we are creating stronger connections between schools, academy trusts and the wider music education ecosystem. This initiative enables teachers to support one another, share expertise and work together to create meaningful and inclusive opportunities for all young people.
“Our Lead Schools aren’t just participants in the Music Hub – they’re leaders, collaborators and changemakers. We’re excited to work alongside them to build a more connected, inclusive and ambitious music education offer for every young person across Norfolk and Suffolk.”
– Alison Brain, Norfolk & Suffolk Music Hub Lead
